Current Projects

We are interested in the synthesis of natural products and their derivatives.  We enjoy the  preparation of strucutrally compelling target molecules, but we also believe that synthetic organic chemistry serves as tool to access biologically active intermediates. In this respect, all our targets possess promising biological properties and we are committed to the synthesis of analogs for further biological activity studies with the ultimate goal to access novel drugs.

Additionally, we are interested in the biocatalytic preparation of value-added chiral synthons from bulk chemicals. The oxidation of benzoic acid and its derivatives constitutes an environmentally benign and green method for the production of fine chemicals. This project is currently being established in our group.
